The
Robotics Team at Trumbull High School had a relatively quiet 2006 - 2007 school
year. There were three principal members, Peter Greenwood, Tyler Kramka, and Eric
Meeson, working with advisor Hans Drenkard.
They invested
considerable time and effort to establish a plan for the 2007 - 2008 team, which
is expecting an influx of as many as twenty incoming freshmen who expressed interest
in participating.
The current members identified a robotics
competition, known as BotBall, that they would like to enter. Learning that Bridgeport's
Central High School fields a BotBall team that has eighteen members, the THS team
accepted their advisor's invitation to attend one of their meetings. Ms. Vecsey
displayed 2006 and 2007 BotBall kits to the THS team and explained that participation
is relatively expensive, with the cost of the robotics kit, training workshops,
registration, and travel to the competition exceeding $7,000.
All
going well, the THS team is poised to tackle the necessary fund-raising and preparations
to participate in the 2008 BotBall competition.
